America is home to many cities and towns that are filled with friendly and welcoming communities, but it's especially easy to find kindness in South, which is generally known for its hospitality. In fact, two popular cities in North Carolina were recognized as some of the nicest places in the entire country.

Clever Real Estate compiled a list of "nicest" cities in the U.S., with many of the destinations in the Top 10 found around the South, seemingly solidifying the idea of "Southern hospitality" thanks to its friendly residents. Among the list are two cities in North Carolina. Charlotte and Raleigh ranked as the No. 2 and No. 6 nicest cities in the country, respectively, while North Carolina as a whole ranked as the seventh nicest state in America.

    3. Virginia Beach, Virginia
    4. Atlanta, Georgia

    6. Raleigh, North Carolina
    7. Tampa, Florida
    8. Boston, Massachusetts
    9. Seattle, Washington
    10. TIED: Birmingham, Alabama; Denver, Colorado; Orlando, Florida

Charlotte is far from a nice city. I lived there from 1982 until 2023. I left because it is NOT a nice place to live. People are rude, they drive like they own the road, you can't afford to live there. The middle class is priced out of Charlotte. Charlotte used to be nice in the 80's but not anymore. Oh yeah, if you breakdown on the road in Charlotte I hope you move way far away from your car because you will get run over, if not once then twice. Happens all the time and traffic is a nightmare.
