Storm causes building damage in Southeast Ohio

MONROE COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — Residents in Beallsville, Ohio, experienced the backlash of the major storm that ripped across the Ohio Valley on Wednesday.

Some people’s homes were damaged, barns and sheds were torn apart, and equipment was toppled due to the harsh winds.

Buildings in Miltonsburg and Jerusalem also experienced structural damage.

Roads affected by the storm have been cleared now, and fallen trees are being removed.

Beallsville Resident Trenton Hudson was one of several people whose homes were damaged.

He is thankful that the Good Fellers emergency storm damage assistance helped repair his home. People in the neighborhood also came together to help out.

“This morning, I woke up to the whole house shaking, thought it was going to come down around me and I scrambled to get to the basement as quick as I could. Ripped off part of the roof here, my neighbors barn wall, there’s trees down all over the place, the power was down everywhere.”

Powhatan Point was also hit by the nasty weather. Many trees in the area were uprooted and branches were scattered in the street.

Businesses such as Asplundh Tree Expert Company were called into action to help clean up the mess and remove the fallen trees and broken limbs.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh will conduct a storm damage survey for northern Monroe County in Ohio.

A storm survey will be assessed for the area along State Route 800 between Miltonsburg and Beallsville in Ohio.
