MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (WTRF) — A special group of students at one local middle school started an art project that will be seen by many people right here in the Ohio Valley.

Students in the Studio Art Class at Moundsville Middle School began painting yet another mural at Grand Vue Park. Last year Tabetha Morgan’s class painted a mural at the playground at Grand Vue and this year they are painting one at the outdoor pool.

This year’s mural features an image of the pool that recently opened at Grand Vue Park.

Mrs. Morgan and one of her students share the importance of projects like this one.

”It’s definitely important for students who are learning, especially at the middle school level, about their identities and about who they are and about what they want to express to be able to create something that allows other people to see who they are.”

”I get way more creativity instead of normal art class and it’s like a fun year round class to have. I really like it.”

Karmen Mercer – 7th grader, Moundsville Middle School

The class began the project early this morning and will return tomorrow to add the finishing touches.
