They offered free eclipse glasses and offered a Q and A session for people to learn more about the phenomenon.

The college even provided telescopes outside for people to view the eclipse.

The professor who advises the club says they also viewed animal and insect behaviors.

“We need to start going outside and just start looking up there to see what the birds are doing, the insects are doing, especially when it gets dark, even though we’re not in totality, we’re about an hour. We’re going to be about 97%. It’s still a very significant event for us.”

Said Leghlid | Assistant Professor of Communication, WVNCC

The astronomy club says this is an event they have been waiting a long time for, and they are happy they were able to provide some fun for the community.
