MONROE COUNTY, Ohio ( WTRF ) – If you’re a fan of country music, then you know what an honor it is to perform on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

The Price Sisters say the feeling of stepping into that circle for the very first time is almost indescribable.

    This is their story.

Born and raised in Sardis, Ohio, twin sisters Leanna and Lauren Price have always had a deep love for music they attribute to their parents, Tim and Rhonda Price.

They graduated from River High School in 2013 and decided to continue their music careers at Morehead State University in Eastern Kentucky and graduated in 2017 with bachelors in traditional music studies.

After the COVID-19 pandemic put the world on pause, The Price Sisters reflected on their next steps.

“It did help us kind of focus on really putting some new music out there that we felt super connected to.”

Their focus led to the start of a new project with their record label, McCoury Family Music, and mentorship under the award-winning Del McCoury Band.

“They’ve won several Grammys together as a group, and they’re just really highly regarded. We’ve been fortunate enough to kind of mentor with their band a little bit over the years and just really get to know their family and they’ve been so kind to us.”

Their most recent album, Between the Lines was produced by Ronnie McCoury and released under the McCoury family label.

It features the sisters’ vocals, with Leanna playing the fiddle and Lauren playing the mandolin.

The sisters feel this album led to many opportunities, including their recent debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

“It’s something that we had always dreamed about, but just thought, oh, you know, that’s a great idea. But I don’t know that I believe that would happen. To be able to be acknowledged in that regard, it’s just incredible.”

Leanna says the journey getting to the Opry stage has not always been easy, but it was definitely worth it.

The Price Sisters are up for several International Bluegrass Music Association awards.
