West Virginia Taylor Swift block party plans to empower survivors

For those who just joined the Tortured Poets Department, get ready for a whole block party to celebrate Taylor Swift and her new album.

The Sexual Assault Help Center (SAHC) is partnering with Kraken Records in New Martinsville, WV to host a Taylor Swift Block Party on April 22 from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm.

The whole entire block outside of Kraken Records will be blocked off for Swifties to listen to listen to the full album.

Face painting, bubbles cotton candy, fizzy drink, Lego building, friendship bracelets, a photo booth, sidewalk chalk art and a poet to write poems will be available at the event among other vendors.

“We are looking forward to a night of fun music and all things Taylor Swift to show community connectedness and empower survivors in our area,” Sexual Assault advocate Emily Williamson said.

There will also be a community clothes line art project so survivors can share their stories and allies will be able to give a positive message. SAHC will also be there for people to sign a pledge to not stay silent or condone sexual violence.
