Ohio Valley student recognized as Presidential Scholar

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — Wheeling Park High School student Grant Kenamond and Morgantown High School student Lauren Shen were recognized as West Virginia’s 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars.

Two scholars in every state are chosen based on academic success, excellence in the arts and commitment to community service.

Grant Kenamond, Presidential Scholar, says he is grateful to be amongst a group of students who are recognized for their efforts across the country.

“Really throughout my entire academic career I’ve always just held myself to the highest standards, that includes the debate team, that includes the orchestra, all these organizations that have just really meant a lot to me because they’ve helped me develop as a person and they’ve helped me get to where I am now.”

Grant says he is thankful for all the teachers who have not only pushed him academically but helped him succeed in his extra circulars. He says he wouldn’t be here without them.
