BELMONT COUNTY, OHIO (WTRF) – One Belmont County agency is receiving some much need help.

Four new humane agents were sworn in today by Judge Albert Davies. The agents are serving on a volunteer basis and will take on a number of duties including collecting evidence and investigating animal hoarding and abuse cases.

Belmont County Hoof and Paw currently has around fifty animals in their care.

“It’s primarily been me covering the entire county with a part-time officer that can occasionally go out. So we need this desperately. They will essentially be doing everything that I have done in the past six years. So yes they are 100% authorized to collect that data and post, charges against somebody.”

Julie Larish, Humane Officer, Belmont County

Belmont County Hoof and Paw are also looking for volunteers to care for animals they are currently housing. They say they are in desperate need of dog walkers.

Anyone interested can contact the agency through their Facebook page.
