W.Va. (WTRF) – Last week the Federal government approved a major disaster declaration for the state of West Virginia to address the widespread damage from the flooding on April 2-6.

This will allow FEMA funding to go out to qualified residents in 11 counties, including Ohio, Marshall and Wetzel counties here in the Northern Panhandle.

The grants would cover temporary housing, home repairs, uninsured property losses and programs for individuals and business owners to aid in the recovery.

“I would encourage everybody whose been affected by these, and for you all to help us get the word out, that if you’re eligible for individual assistance, you can go to www.disasterassistance.gov .”

    Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-WV

You can also call 800-621-FEMA (3362), or you can use the FEMA App, which will be available in your phone’s app store.

Disaster Assistance Loans are also available through the Small Business Administration for Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Ohio and Wetzel counties.
