    Hydrogen Hub is $30 million closer to coming to West Virginia

    The Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2) is a step closer to coming to the Mountain State, Senator Shelley Moore Capito told 7 News.

    The Department of Energy released $30 million to officially launch the facility in West Virginia, according to state officials. The money is the first part of a $925 million award that was made possible by provisions included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Capito told 7 News the initial funding marks an important step for the state’s future.

    “We need to be the breadbasket of power generation for the rest of the country, and we’re set up for it. It’s just—we need to modernize. We need to get more pipelines. We need to make sure our hydrogen—that we’re able to produce the hydrogen that’s needed.”

    The West Virginia Hydrogen Hub Coalition includes Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito, Governor Jim Justice, and Former U-S Representative David McKinley.
