Charleston, W.Va. (WTRF) – Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power have filed rate review applications today with the West Virginia Public Service Commission.

It would “provide resources necessary to enhance reliability, support upgrades to their generation plants and promote economic growth.” The request is to increase annual revenue by $265.1 million, or 15.4%.

As the Companies have worked to deliver safe and reliable power, their day-to-day operations are impacted by inflation, rising interest rates and have led to higher maintenance costs.

Rate review applications allow the PSC to examine the Companies’ financial and operational performance and any request to modify base rates for service.

The proposed increase would vary depending on customer class and usage.

For a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, their monthly bill would increase by 17.61%, or $28.72 dollars. Commercial would be 14.53% ($60.41).

Industrial would see a 13.16% increase ($34,321) per monthly bill.
