WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — If you were impacted by the storms that tore through the Ohio Valley on April 11 and 12, there is still time to see if you’re eligible for FEMA assistance.

FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center is still open at 25 Armory Drive in Wheeling and can answer any questions you have about receiving additional assistance.

If you are a renter or homeowner, you may qualify for rental assistance, basic home repairs, personal property losses, and other eligible expenses related to damage from the disaster.

The deadline to apply for assistance from FEMA is September 3.

FEMA representative Trey Paul shares why it is worth stopping at a Disaster Recovery Center.

FEMA can help renters, FEMA can help homeowners, and FEMA can help folks who are insured or uninsured. It’s definitely worth a shot to come in and talk to someone here at a disaster recovery center. Let them know what happened, and they’ll walk you through the eligibility process and let you know if you can apply. It’s a very quick and easy process; you can stay as long as you want, but we’ll get you in and out. All you have to do is show up.”

FEMA also has a disaster recovery center in Hancock County at the New Cumberland Municipal Building on Court Street.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

If you are unable to make it to one of the disaster recovery centers you can see if you are eligible for assistance online , by calling 1-800-621-3362, or by downloading the FEMA app.
