St. John Central Academy looking for host families for international students

BELMONT COUNTY, OHIO (WTRF) – St. John Central Academy in Bellaire has two international students wanting to attend there this year. But unless they find host families willing to house them, they’ll have to cancel their plans.

One boy from Spain and one from Switzerland want to spend a year at St. John Central Academy.

The school reached out to the families of their 70 students, but so far, no response. A host family would house and feed the students. They’d make sure they have transportation to and from school and activities.

And they don’t need to have kids or even live in Bellaire to be a host.

“Anyone can be a host family. Age, demographics, number of children, none of those things matter. You just have to be willing to open your home. And you cannot not fall in love with these students. Everyone is heartbroken and crying bittersweet tears on the last day when it’s time to go home. It’s a bond that will last a lifetime for sure.”

“Yes if you’re within our radius, it doesn’t really matter what town, as long as you have wheels and the willingness to help them get to school, it would be a wonderful experience for both you and the student. Please consider being a host parent. The next couple of weeks are very important. If anyone is interested, we ask that you apply as soon as possible so that your family can go through an interview process.”

St. John Central Academy starts back to school September 3rd. So the last possible deadline to apply is the end of August.

The academy is a Christian school with no church affiliation.
