(WTRF) — It’s been one week since recreational marijuana sales began in Ohio.

A spokesperson with Sunnyside Dispensaries in Ohio, Jason Erkes says the first week of sales at their stores went flawlessly.

He says people were waiting in line for hours before some of their stores even opened. Once customers were in the store, Erkes says just about every single one of them was satisfied when they left.

He says several customers mentioned concerns about buying in the illicit market so once adult-use sales went into effect they were thrilled.

Moving forward Erkes believes that the use of recreational cannabis will become more present in our daily lives.

”There was no ramp up period for this in Ohio. They gave about 48 hours notice before things launched and people came out by the droves. So, I think as awareness continues to grow and people realize that they have access to walk into a store and buy regulated products, you know, the numbers are going to go up significantly and it’ll just become an everyday part of people’s wellness.”

Erkes says if you have never been to a dispensary, their team is there to answer any questions to help you find the product that is best for you.

He also gave credit to the State of Ohio for the job they did in launching the sales and providing necessary information to the sellers and buyers.
