UPDATE 12:57- The lockdown at Wheeling Park has been lifted.

Officials say they found two bullets on a high school bus this morning. No firearms were found.

“This is not the way we anticipated starting our day, we went into immediate action with our local police department,” Wheeling Park said.

Officials said they did a thorough search of the building and the lockdown was a precautionary measure with back-to-school instruction continued in Developmental Guidance.

The school said they used an internal communications system to provide updates to parents and to help stop misinformation.

All students have been fed lunch and are now back in their developmental guidance.

“We know that a lockdown took a spark of first-day joy, but we also know that the safety of our students and the procedure of a lockdown has to come first,” the school said.

    All students are still safe.

During an investigation, school officials say they have to be vague and that this will be explained in their all-call when they provide additional information.

Once the lockdown lifts, the school is aiming to give students a normal day.

The school asks to avoid any non-medical early dismissals. If you are dismissing early, parents must arrive in an orderly fashion due to buses. Dismissals cannot take place after 1:30 pm.

UPDATE 11:21 am- As a search is completed, students in clear areas will begin dismissing for lunch procedures. Aside from this movement, the school will remain in lockdown. When the lockdown lifts, the school said they send an all-call with additional information and updates.
