ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) — The Experience Church offered free haircuts to kids 17 and under as part of its Back-to-School Blessings event.

While hairdressers cut and styled students’ hair, the church collected school supplies like backpacks and clothes to donate to the Bridgeport School District.

Outreach director Kayla Dixon says the church wanted to offer an opportunity for kids to look their best and start the school year off right.

“I’ve worked in the school system for a while, and so I’ve seen firsthand what a haircut can do for a child, it boosts their confidence, it makes them feel good about themselves.”

Dixon says in the future she hopes the Back-to-School Blessings event expands so that every school district in the Valley can receive donations.
