Crews respond to apartment fire in downtown Wheeling

Wheeling, W.Va. (WTRF) – An investigation is underway after firefighters were called to the Booker T Washington Apartments in downtown Wheeling for a report of smoke inside the building.

Officials say when they arrived, they found a fire inside an apartment on the fourth floor.

One person was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Others inside the building were either evacuated or asked to shelter in place.

The fire was quickly extinguished and isolated to one apartment.
