GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — A Cambridge man is behind bars, and three others are being held in county jail while officials file formal charges after drug trafficking investigations in Guernsey County.

According to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office , Deputies and Detectives from the Guernsey County Investigations Division executed multiple search warrants inside the City of Cambridge on Tuesday, August 20, and Thursday, August 22.

Officials say the search warrants stem from two long-term investigations into the trafficking of methamphetamines and fentanyl in Guernsey County.

On Tuesday, August 20, Detectives conducted a search warrant on a North 10th Street address in the City of Cambridge.

During the search warrant, Detectives discovered a significant amount of suspected methamphetamines and evidence of drug trafficking inside the residence, as well as a large number of allegedly stolen items.

Officials seized all of the items as evidence, and as a result of the search warrant, Sherman Jones, age 55, of Cambridge, Ohio, was charged with Trafficking in Drugs within the vicinity of a substance addiction service provider, a first-degree felony and Possession of Drugs, a second-degree felony.

On Thursday, August 22, Detectives executed another search warrant, this time at a Wills Creek Valley Drive address in Cambridge.

During the search, detectives located a significant amount of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamines, a firearm, cash, and items associated with the manufacturing and distribution of illegal narcotics, all within the close vicinity of a school zone.

According to officials, three individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Guernsey County Jail.

Officials are withholding their names until formal charges are filed.

Both incidents remain under investigation, and detectives continue to follow up on information related to both incidents.

Sheriff Paden added that these investigations have asset forfeiture specifications, which means that any assets, including vehicles used for drug trafficking or obtained as a result of drug trafficking, will be seized and forfeited.

Sheriff Jeff Paden said, “Anyone, and I repeat anyone, caught selling this poison in our communities in Guernsey County, will be arrested and we will seize every asset used in the trafficking of these drugs or that was received as a profit. We will actively pursue your house, vehicles, and anything you obtained in the transactions of drugs!”
