The excitement of over a century of liftoff at the Wings Over Wheeling Airshow Saturday

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — It’s a feeling that makes the heart jump every time.

The exhilarating feel and sight of a plane lifting off miles into the air has sparked wonder for over a century…and the Wheeling-Ohio County Airport is ready to experience it once again.

The Wings Over Wheeling show returns Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm to demonstrate just how far we’ve come in flight, beginning with RC planes and skydivers and moving onto aerobatics.

Airshow experts like Kevin Russo and Rick Volker will hover and roll in their aircraft, before the show ends with the Full Throttle Formation Team leaving contrails across the sky.

“Aviation and airplanes just get people excited. The noise, the feel, you know, it’s quite a sight to see and be a part of. And with the new aviation school coming up to the airport, I think people are extremely excited about that.”

For those who prefer to stay grounded, there will also be vintage plane viewings and food trucks.
