WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — The Wheeling Island Community came together today to help support one of their own who is dealing with a lengthy recovery after an intense medical procedure.

After fighting a chronic lung disease for three years, Wheeling Island resident Jon Means needed a double lung transplant, which he received on Saturday.

To help him on his road to recovery, his family and friends organized a benefit spaghetti dinner at the Wheeling Island Marina on Sunday.

The event included live music, various raffles, food from Figaretti’s and DeFelice, and much more.

Jon Means, also known as Uncle Bub, we’re out here to celebrate; for three years, he’s had Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, so we were waiting for a double lung transplant, and thankfully, he got it last night. So, he woke up with a new set of lungs.”

Jon’s family and friends would like to thank everyone who came out for the event today and those who donated items or money to help with Jon’s recovery.
