OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) – The Hilltoppers are officially back in class at West Liberty University.

Today was the first day of classes, and it comes after a long weekend of moving in and getting familiar with the university. Between freshmen and transfers, there are 550 new students on campus this year, along with some other new additions.

The new aviation program is attracting a lot of attention, as is the new women’s wrestling program.

University officials are thrilled to welcome in the new class.

“Today’s really been a culmination of a weekend of students moving in, getting acclimated, connecting with each other, connecting with the campus. So today’s really that day where it all comes to fruition, they start their classes and really start their journey here at West Liberty.”

Tim Borchers – President of West Liberty University

“Just really thankful for the staff, and the coaches and the administration. They’ve worked really hard this summer. All weekend we were open and helping students get acclimated, so really just some long hours for our staff, and just really thankful for them digging in and bringing in this new big class.”

Katie Cooper – Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management

There were a variety of talks for those new to campus over the weekend, and even cupcakes and desert at the President’s house.
