After 3 straight trips to the state playoffs, the Cameron Dragons are a single-A powerhouse once again. With that title comes major expectations, and according to coach, this team is raising them.

“Basically you don’t want to drop that torch, you want to keep that torch going forward, so they’ve set some lofty goals, they want to go undefeated which is a pretty big goal, they’re talking about going further in the playoffs than we’ve ever went, but if you don’t have goals like that you’re never gonna get there.”

    Tim Brown- Head Coach

That championship culture wasn’t built overnight. For Brown who is now in his 2nd stint coaching the Dragons, he’s learned to adjust his temperament through time to foster it.

“You know I used to be the military real-strict guy, and I’ve learned these kids just need you to listen to them and they have to listen to me, and there’s a respect, and don’t get me wrong if they mess up we, they don’t like it.”

One face who won’t return in 2024 is Colson Wiscterman who graduated after leading the Dragons for 4-seasons at Quarterback. Replacing him will be his old receiver Kason Angel, who has allegedly put on 25 pounds of muscle.

“You know with his strength his size I think he’ll be able to pull the ball and run when he needs to, but he’s also got good accuracy already for the few reps he’s had in comparison to somebody who’s been here for 4 years. He’s gonna hold his teammate accountable, and they’ll hold him accountable too, they like to argue and bicker backand forth but they do it the right way, you know they make each other better.”

Those guys around him include the returning backfield of Klipson Wallace and Slaton Petit as well as a receiving core made up of Mason Scott, Tre Estel & Sawyer Reed.

Up front 3 linemen return in Hunter Wright, Brody Hill & Wes Starcher.

Cameron’s road to undefeated starts in a tough road battle on August 30th at Edison.
