    ( WTRF ) – How a local high school is protecting their football players this upcoming season, a local pharmacy gets raided by the DEA and a home in Monroe County is declared a total loss after a lightning strike.

    Monroe County home destroyed by fire after lightning strike

    Officials confirm that a home in Monroe County is a total loss after being struck by lightning.

    The Antioch Fire Department responded to a home near Barnes Run Road around 4 p.m. after reports of lightning striking the home.

    No one is living in the house, but there were personal belongings still inside. No injuries were reported.

    Ohio pharmacy raided by the DEA

    The Corner Pharmacy in Barnesville, Ohio was raided on Tuesday by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

    The Diversion Program Manager with the DEA Detroit Field Division executed the search warrant and told 7News the owner voluntarily surrendered his DEA registration Number.

    Now, owner Charles “Chip” Terrett is no longer allowed to dispense controlled substances.

    Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown visited the site of a new transformer plant in Weirton on Thursday.

    Nearly 600 jobs will be returning to the Ohio Valley thanks to Brown’s push back against a Department of Energy rule that would have made it nearly impossible for transformers to be produced in America with American made steel.

    Extreme drought in Ohio affecting everyone from farmers to gardeners

    The high humidity and heat have been causing droughts throughout West Virginia and Ohio.

    Farmers and gardeners alike are feeling the effects of the drought.

    Agriculture experts say gardens need four inches of water a month to grow, and in this part of the Ohio Valley, we’ve only had four inches of water in the last three months.

    The Ohio House Agriculture chairman urges farmers to document their hardships with water, livestock and crops, and report them to the Soil and Water Conservation District.

    Wheeling Park High School using football helmet sensors to monitor player safety

    Friday Night Lights is officially in full swing for high school football teams across the Ohio Valley.

    It’s no secret that football is a dangerous contact sport that has many requirements to ensure the safety of its players.

    Wheeling Park High School is taking safety to the next level.

    Every football player’s helmet is equipped with sensors that keeps daily information on impacts that player has sustained.

    Athletic trainers are immediately notified when a player sustains a high-level impact.
