STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) — After a busy summer season, the Ohio Valley’s humane societies are starting their fall with a push for the pets waiting day after day for a caring human.

Whether it’s vaccinations, microchips or even a bite of a hot dog, the third year of Bark in the Park is set to provide another year of wagging tails.

On October 6th from 11 to 3, the Jim Woods Park in Steubenville will see owners celebrating and even pampering their pets.

A costume contest will give your dog or cat a head start on Halloween.
Animals will be blessed for long and happy lives.
And vendors will be set up so you can buy your dog yet another toy.

While the festival is set up by the Jefferson County Humane Society, other area shelters will also be there to work toward making sure that no animal has to sleep on the streets.

“Because it’s not just our animals that are looking for homes, it is all animals looking for homs. So there’s no walls between us whenever we’re all looking for the same thing for the animals in our community.”

Brandi Denoon-Damewood, Development Manager, Jefferson County Humane Society

Although the events are geared toward companions with four legs, even pets that slither or waddle are welcome.

The low-cost vaccination clinic won’t even charge you an exam fee.
