WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — Salvation Army’s throughout the Ohio Valley are looking for volunteer bell ringers.

This year, the organization aims to raise $200,000 and has set a goal of 200 volunteers to help raise money during the holiday season.

With the first target date quickly approaching, the Salvation Army hopes to have 100 families, groups, and organizations locked in by September 15.

“So, we’re at 56 right now and so we do need more people to come on in and help us this year. When you’re out there ringing the bell, you’re getting to know your neighbors, you’re getting to see the community, and it is such a blessing just to be out there.”

Lt. John Lawrence, Wheeling Salvation Army

Lieutenant Lawrence says volunteers can register through the Salvation Army’s website or call their office directly.

If community members want to contribute differently, they can participate in the Angel Tree program from September 15 through October 31.
