On Saturday, Wheeling Park High School teacher Ryan Stanton held the first of eight classes, discussing topics like Wheeling Island and Wheeling Steel.

Ohio County Schools officials say more than 200 people signed up for the first class, and all of them came prepared to learn today.

When you look out into the audience, you see young parents, you see older parents, you see people that have experienced the history of Wheeling. They came in the door with notebooks and pencils, and they’re taking notes and engaging with Mr. Stanton. So it is really, truly a great event and outreach to our community, and we’re just happy to be able to host it and truly cannot say enough about Mr. Stanton and his expertise and knowledge about the history of Wheeling.”

Dr. Kim Miller – Superintendent, Ohio County Schools

The class will be held on the first Saturday of every month from 10 to 11 a.m.
