Callers told dispatchers that Tanner was lying on the ground while fifty-nine-year-old Cliff Salisbury of Mount Nebo, WV, was walking around carrying a rifle.

Officials say Corporal Davis, along with multiple Troopers and Deputies, arrived on the scene and quickly located the alleged shooter.

Salisbury was arrested without incident, and the West Virginia State Police Crime Scene team responded and processed the scene.

Joseph Tanner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say this investigation remains active and ongoing.
