OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — Ohio County Schools have received their annual balanced score cards, an overview of how each school has performed throughout the year.

Areas like academic performance, attendance, and discipline are measured and then rated on a scale from exceeds standards to does not meet standards.

Innovation coordinator JoJo Shay says she is thrilled with how well every school performed and is excited to see how the district can improve this school year.

“Our highlights for this year are our elementary, middle and high schools in both ELA and math showed improvement. For brick-and-mortar schools we had the lowest chronic absenteeism rate and so we just have a lot of great things going on and I think that’s a huge testament to our teachers who’ve really vested in what the state is asking us to do.”

Shay says OCS is all about growth, although they scored well this year the district is always looking for ways to improve and give their students the best education possible.

Am I missing something? What’s the scale? What are the results? What organization or government body creates/administers/puts out the results? When were the results released? Is it a statewide or nationwide comparison? What factors are considered when calculating the results?
