PADEN CITY, W.Va. (WTRF) — With fall football season in full swing, it’s time for more than touchdowns and field goals.

Marching bands across the Ohio Valley are getting ready to put on their halftime shows and competitions.

After a summer full of uncertainty, the Paden City High School Marching Band is back on the field and ready to take on the new season.

Band members have been patiently waiting for the season to start, and they cannot wait to showcase their reimagined show.

The new show will start off slow and dark, but gradually speed and lighten up.

We are thankful to be wearing green and white right now. We are thrilled that we have our students back and that we’re in a school and we’re just happy to be here.”

Debra Price – Band Director, Paden City HS

The band incorporates several new songs to their lineup, including “Dream On” by Aerosmith. There are also a few new color guards who will march alongside the band to add more to their performances.

We have a show with a lot of potential. It’s a bit out of the ordinary for us. We do a lot of at least in the times I’ve been here, a lot more upbeat with maybe one slow piece. Our slow song is our third to this year instead of our second. And our first two songs are in minor keys, so they’re a bit more mysterious sounding. And then we get big and bold at the end of the show.”

    Brenna Clark – Senior

Band members say they are excited to perform in front of their hometown crowd and love to show their talent.

A lot of work and practice has gone into creating the new show, as members spent many hours practicing under the sweltering summer sun.

We have a lot of room to improve this year. We lost a really good class last year and our drumline starting all new. None of us are on the same instrument, so I’m just looking forward to the improvement and the bus trips. Those are always the best part.”

    Mackenzie Simpkins – Senior

Their love of music is what drives them to put on the best performances.

In addition, many band members say they look forward to the competitions, parades and taking long bus rides together, making memories that will last a lifetime.
