New WVU Medicine rehab facility opens

WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital officially opened its St. Clairsville Rehabilitation Services facility. Hospital leaders held a ribbon cutting Thursday to welcome the community to the new space.

Hospital officials said their services have officially moved from the Belmont Health Center down the road to the new facility.  WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital Director of Rehab Services Sheila Archer said the previous facility was smaller and did not offer much privacy for the patients.

“I think it’s a calmer experience for them. They can relax and really work with their therapist, so that they can get better.”

Archer said the new building has five different private treatment rooms with closed doors and a large gym for patients to work with their physical therapists. Therapists will provide a range of rehab services including for athletes, elderly people and people who have had surgery.

The WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital St. Clairsville Rehabilitation Services is located at 51687 National Road East, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.
