Barnesville, OH (WTRF) Last-minute preparations were underway throughout the day, as festival organizers and volunteers made sure everything was ready to go.

The Barnesville Pumpkin Festival is set to open tonight with the weigh-in of the King Pumpkin.

Last year’s king pumpkin was grown by Bill Neptune of New Concord, weighing a staggering 1,950 pounds and sold for a record 15,000 dollars.

It was purchased by a collection of Barnesville businesses, and the money raised helps the festival keep going year after year.

“This is our 60th year and we welcome all people out to Barnesville, Ohio, to get some good pumpkin ice cream. We will have three vendors serving pumpkin ice cream, and we look forward to seeing all your friendly faces.”

At the festival, you will find lots of delicious food, contests, music, a parade and a car show.

The festival is on West Main Street between Chestnut Street and Gardner Street in the center of town.

The festival officially starts tomorrow night at five and runs through Sunday, September 29th so be sure to get out there and get some pumpkin flavored ice cream.
