WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — Organizations throughout the valley have come together for Save a Life Day, a national initiative that provides communities with Narcan, an opioid overdose antidote.

Individuals who visit a Safe a Life site will learn how to recognize an overdose, administer Narcan, and receive other informational materials and resources.

Executive director Claudia Raymer says this live saving medication is essential in the fight against addiction.

“We want people to get to recovery, but to get to be in recovery you have to be alive. So, we really want to spread the word that Narcan saves lives, we would like everybody to have it. You never know who you may encounter who might be struggling.”

Claudia Raymer, executive director, Ohio County Family Resources Network

Raymer says for those who were unable to attend Thursday’s event, Narcan is available at your local health department.
