Ohio Valley Heart Walk returns and American Heart Association celebrates 100 years

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) – Hundreds of local residents descended upon Wheeling Park this evening for the 2024 Ohio Valley Heart Walk.

This was a special year for the event, as the American Heart Association is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The goal for Thursday night to was to bring awareness and raise money for heart health, which is the #1 killer of Americans.

Along with the walk, there was also a wide array of activities for kids, a pet contest, and many vendor booths offering critical, life-saving information on heart health.

“We’re so excited to be back at Wheeling Park. This Heart Walk honors those that we’ve lost, those that are survivors and family and friends just come out and have a great family-oriented event to just celebrate health, and heart health.”

At last count, this year’s Heart Walk has raised over $62,800, but there is still time to get that number even higher.
