Parkersburg, W.Va. – Experience the magic of the past this fall at Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park during the Mansion by Candlelight event on October 11 and 12, 2024.

Organizers say for two unforgettable nights, guests will be transported back over 200 years to a time when Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett hosted grand 18th-century parties at their stately island mansion.

Guests have the option of adding on Harvest Supper tickets for an exclusive dining experience.

Begin your journey at Civitan Park in Belpre, Ohio, where you’ll board the Island Belle sternwheeler for a short ride to the island.

Once ashore, the mansion and island will come alive, illuminated by hundreds of candles and lanterns, creating a breathtaking scene.

You’ll be welcomed by docents dressed in period attire and invited to explore the mansion, listen to live 18th-century music, watch traditional dances and join in lively games.

“This event is a special one, where the celebration extends across the island,” said Acting WV State Parks Chief Dillard Price. “You can take a horse-drawn wagon ride, browse the gift shop, or warm yourself by the bonfire. Enjoy the sounds of Appalachian music, clogging performances and the age-old craft of apple butter making while hearing stories about local folklore.”

Organizers say to be sure to reserve your spot for the candlelight “Harvest Supper” by September 29, 2024 , as reservations are required for this exclusive dining experience.

The meal will feature a thoughtfully curated picnic-style menu, including apple rosemary roasted turkey, southern sage and celery dressing, whipped potatoes with roasted gravy and an assortment of pies. This exquisite supper will be served both evenings, but only with advance reservations.
