Wheeling, W.Va. (WTRF) – 7News is your local election headquarters. The November election is almost one month away, and there are some huge races on the ballot.

The biggest one here in West Virginia is the race for Governor.

The two leading candidates are Huntington Mayor Steve Williams representing the Democrats, and Republican West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.

Mr. Morrisey stopped by the 7News studio today to give an update on his campaign. He’s touting his endorsement from former President Trump, and arguing that his brand of conservatism is what’s resonating with West Virginia voters.

“We’re spending time in Ohio County today, in Marshall County, and then bright and early tomorrow we’re going to be in Wetzel County, we’re excited about that. We’ll be hitting a number of the breakfast joints, and I think it’s so critical to get to every one of the 55 counties across West Virginia. This is how I won the first time when I ran for Attorney General. A little good old fashioned shoe leather can go a long way.”

Patrick Morrisey – (R) W.Va. Attorney General, Candidate for Governor

The election will take place on November 5th.
