MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — Every week, 7News honors a new cheer team across the Ohio Valley in Squad Goals.

John Marshall High School is this week’s Squad Goal!

We are John Marshall Monarchs. My name is Marcie Robbins, and I’m the head coach. My assistant coach’s name is Kelly Smith.

This year, we have 28 cheerleaders, which is one of the largest squads we have ever had.

We have 11 on the sideline and 17 on our varsity competition team.

And we have six seniors this year.

Our varsity competition team last year was runner-up at the OVAC cheer competitions, so we definitely hope to build off of that this year and do even better.

Our goals for this year are to be the best we possibly can and to hopefully place at regionals. We’ve never made it to states before, so we’re hoping to win OVAC.

Our next game is on October 17 against one of our rivals, Brooke High School.

It’s a Thursday night game at Brooke, so we hope to see you there.

This has been WTRF’s Squad Goals presented by the JB Green Team.
