MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (WTRF) – Marshall County has a new way you can stay active and get healthy.

The City of Moundsville unveiled a new outdoor Fitness Court at East End Park today.

This program is a featured part of the nationwide initiative launched by National Fitness Campaign, on a mission to change health outcomes in America.

In addition to National Fitness Campaign grant funding, local funding and sponsorships from WVU Medicine, The Evan G. Roberts Trust, and EQT Corporation contributed to make the project possible in Moundsville.

City Manager Rick Healy says the project has been over a year in the making.

“It’s available. It’s absolutely free. You can come out here and use it any time of the day. There’s no membership needed, there’s no cost. It’s absolutely free to the community. But it also falls into the same scheme that we’ve been trying to do, which is to bring something different to our parks and recreation. And we believe this is extremely different. We’re proud to have it here.”

The founder of National Fitness Campaign, says “We are excited to have the City of Moundsville join us in the journey to improve health and wellness as we work to make a powerful and long-lasting impact on longevity and happiness by building healthy communities across America.”
