The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is next week for those affected by the severe storms in the Ohio Valley on April 11-12.

Residents in Hancock, Kanawha, Marshall, Ohio and Wetzel counties have until Nov. 2 to submit their application.

FEMA assistance can cover home repairs, losses to personal property and other disaster-related issues not covered by insurance.

FEMA had previously set Sept. 3 as the original deadline for disaster assistance, but officials have since extended it to Nov. 2.

Residents can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362. The toll-free telephone line operates from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
