Construction has started for a new music venue in Pittsburgh.

Live Nation presented plans for a new music venue back in June at the former Civic Arena site in Pittsburgh’s Lower Hill District. The plan was approved in May 2023 but construction started for the venue on Monday.

The 98,000-square-foot venue is a block away from PPG Paints Arena on Wylie Avenue between Fullerton and Logan streets.

The venue is expected to hold 4,500 people and is designed to be a gap for those acts that often skip Pittsburgh on their way to Chicago, NYC, or Philly. “It’s a venue that fills a missing piece,” shared Craig Dunham vice president of development for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

There is also plans to build a parking garage next to the venue but there is no timeline on when the garage will be built.

Live Nation stated that there will only be a $2 surcharge on tickets for events at the venue for at least 10 years and proceeds will go to the Greater Hill District Neighborhood Reinvestment Fund.

The venue is expected to open in Spring of 2026.
