DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Danville is home to a new grocery store that eliminates a food desert on the east-central side of town.

The store is Heavenly Square Grocery. Located in the former Save-a-Lot at 1419 North Bowman Avenue, the store is run by New Life Church of Faith .

The store held its soft opening on Wednesday, with regular hours starting on Thursday. The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day of the week.

Mayor Rickey Williams said on Facebook that in addition to eliminating a food desert, the opening of the store fulfilled all of the promised openings in that corridor of Bowman. Those openings include Head Start in the former Social Security Building, Medical Clinic in the old FMW Bank, & Kobe Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine in the former Dairy Queen/Niro’s Gyros building.

Williams thanked Pastor Thomas Miller and New Life Church of Faith for their vision of the grocery store, Manager Mrs. Marcia Keys for her leadership, Carle for funding support and everyone else who had a hand in making this possible.

Acts 4:32 All of the believers were of one heart and mind. No one claimed any of their possessions as their own but shared everything they had. How much r the church people selling food for again?
