FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The 33rd annual Top Of The Class event was hosted by WTWO and WAWV with Lincoln Trail College at North Central High School.

The best students from over 32 local schools were honored in front of their friends and family. Among them was a set of twins, Alexia and Marisa Zane of Robinson High School. They took a moment to reflect on their journey to this point.

“I think just going off of her,” Alexia said. “She’s my built-in best friend. We’ve been built-in best friends since birth really, having each other for sports and both school has pushed us to be our best selves and continue on in our careers.”

Zane also added that they will be attending the same college in the fall, and their parents Kristi and Scott say it was a blessing to have an event like this.

“I think it’s so neat to come and see everyone else because all of these accomplishments of these other kids, it’s just amazing,” Kristi said. “The youth and what we’ve got to look forward to so its so neat to be a part of that so thank you very much for allowing us to be.”

The event was created by WTWO in 1991, and it has seen massive growth over the decades. Vice president and general manager Tim Sanders has noticed this during his time at the station.

“The event just keeps growing bigger and bigger and bigger,” he said. “We keep getting more people attending. The students really enjoy it, we enjoy it as a company to give back to these valedictorians and show our appreciation to them.”

Over 109 students were honored and there was a total of 344 attendees.
