South sweeps 2024 McMillan Awards

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute South sweeps the 2024 McMillan Awards Tuesday morning at the Senior Awards Banquet.

Ethan Aidoo is the 2024 Vernon McMillan Award Winner for most outstanding male athlete.

“I was really surprised,” says Aidoo.

“There’s a lot of competitive athletes in Vigo County. I just want to thank my family, coaches, friends, & everybody for helping me get this award. Goes to show that all of the hard work paid off.”

Lilly Merk is the 2024 LaVerne McMillan Award Winner for most outstanding female athlete.

“Shocked,” says Merk.

“I could not be more grateful to be recognized for everything in athletics here. The best of the best get this award and to be up there with them is crazy.”

Aidoo will run at Marquette once his high school days are over, and Merk will play volleyball at Valpo.
