US 231 railroad crossing repair causes closure in Loogootee

LOOGOOTEE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An emergency railroad crossing repair will cause a portion of U.S. 231 to be shut down in Loogootee.

According to INDOT , the closure is expected begin on Tuesday May 28 and last for two days as crews work to repair the railroad crossing at that location. Work could be delayed by weather issues.

The closure runs from the intersection with Church Street to the point where U.S. 231 connects with N. Line Street. Local traffic has access up to the point of closure.

The official detour is State Road 58 to I-69 to U.S. 50.
