CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — August 13 is the first day for Illinois residents to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the General Election.

Applications can be filled out online or at your local County Clerk’s office. Mail ballots provide another method of casting a vote while ensuring that yours will be counted. Clark County Clerk Laurie Lee says there are security measures in place.

“We keep it in that sealed envelope, the ballot is in that sealed envelope,” Lee said. “We have Republican and Democrat judges that come in, and they compare signatures and make sure everything is done correctly.”

If you are on the permanent vote-by-mail list, you will receive your ballot automatically on September 26.
