Terre Haute Fire Chief completes special training

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute Fire Chief Darrick Scott completed some special training last week.

The Fire Chief Executive Training Program is required by state law. It must be taken by all fire chiefs across the state. Scott says that during his five days, he was in a group with roughly 45 other chiefs from departments of all sizes and the training gives a blueprint on how to lead effectively.

“A lot of networking, but it was a good course as far as going over politics,” Scott said. “Everything that you need to facilitate and bring you the tool box, it’s like a tool box. They give you the tools to be ready to lead a department.”

Scott says that he has already implemented some of the things he learned at the program in Terre Haute.
