Clear The Shelter event happening Saturday at Edgar County Animal Shelter

EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – Edgar County Animal Shelter will hold its Clear the Shelter event on Saturday, with more than 50 dogs available for adoption.

All dogs available for adoption are half-priced to adopt, and it’s just 75 dollars to take home a new pet. Plus, all dogs come fixed with all of their shots done, and you can pay a small fee for dogs to be microchipped.

Edgar County Animal Shelter director, Andrea Bouslog says this event is a need for the shelter.

“We are so overcrowded,” said Andrea Bouslog. “We want to get our dogs to awesome homes but right now the shelter is just packed. We need it.”

Overcrowding in shelters has been a rising issue not only in Edgar County, but in counties across the state. The event is important for finding dogs new homes, but this event also will bring awareness to the shelter.

“Also get the awareness out about how packed we are, and how much we are in need of volunteers, and supplies,” said the director of Edgar County Animal Shelter.

If you are looking for a furry friend or simply want to volunteer, the Edgar County Animal Shelter opens their doors at 9 AM until Noon on Saturday.

Again, all dogs are just $75 to adopt, and all come fixed with their shots done, and can be microchipped.
