The Vigo Co. Sheriff’s Office is now hiring merit deputies

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is now recruiting full-time merit deputies.

The starting salary is $57,000 a year along with retirement plan options, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. They are accepting both new recruits along with lateral officers who will have an accelerated hiring process.

Sheriff Derek Fell said that there is plenty of room to branch off into one of their many departments such as its K9 and drone units. He said that they want people who have a drive and passion for serving the people of this community.

“I think we have a great team here and a great group of people,” he said. “There are a lot of areas where you can advance and further your career, but you really have to find that piece inside you that drives you to be in the profession of being a police officer.”
