TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Terre Haute Police Department posted a release on Facebook Friday morning about arrests made in a murder on May 7.

The incident happened on May 7 and occurred in the 1800 block of South Center Street. According to the post, officers had responded to a call of shots fired and when they arrived one of the two victims was already deceased, Antonio M. Jones. The other victim was a woman who was taken to the hospital but has since been treated and released.

THPD Public Information Officer Justin Sears said they got to work on case as soon as possible.

“Immediately, detectives and patrolmen began an investigation,” Sears said. “Going into an investigation like that there is a lot of things to do. A lot of witnesses, a lot of evidence collecting, and they initially work endlessly until they can basically work no longer as far as gathering that evidence and information.”

Officials wrote that they worked with the U.S. Marshals Task Force and the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office and were able to arrest two suspects within a week, a third suspect two weeks later. Investigators just recently located the fourth suspect in Chicago and got them transported and jailed late last week.

Sears said the fourth suspect did everything in his power not to be found.

“The fourth suspect we were looking for was believed to be bouncing around different cities and basically off the grid,” Sears said. “We partnered with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, which we have one of our own officers assigned to which benefited us greatly. A little over two weeks ago we located him in Chicago.”

The suspects, Nick O. Rogan (19), Levon J. Warrington (19), De’Rion M. Wilcox (21), and Jamir Jordan (21), are all Terre Haute natives. Jamir Jordan was the remaining last suspect recently found in Chicago. They were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, battery, and burglary. Jordan is set to appear in court in November.

Sears said that detectives and prosecutors are now reviewing the evidence together to make the best case possible at trial.

“All of that stuff gets tested and moved around to the state police lab, and then we begin the process of trial and any other issues that may come up that we need to clarify or work on with the prosecutor’s office to make sure that we have air-tight cases for these individuals when they go through the system,” said Sears.

The post finishes by saying they will continue the hard work going into the trial and that their condolences go out to the victim’s family.
