Duke Energy does speedy work to restore power to southern Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— 1,200 people were without power around 1 p.m. on Friday.

On Friday 1,200 people were without power in southern Terre Haute including Ivy Tech Community College, Dixie Bee Elementary School, and Honey Creek Middle School. Rick Burger from Duke Energy said that the outage reached from the South Walmart location to the South Heritage Animal Hospital.

Burger said that the outage was caused by a mechanical failure. Due to quick action by Duke Energy the power only remained out for 30-45 minutes Burger noted.
