Scheid Diesel Extravaganza events canceled Friday night after pit vehicle accident injuring 4 people

(WTWO/WAWV) — Scheid Diesel Extravaganza cancelled events for Friday night after a off-track incident that happened Friday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, just after 7 p.m. deputies responded to a personal injury accident at the Scheid’s Diesel Extravaganza in Lyons, IN.

A Jeep being used as a pit vehicle, was driven out of the truck pulling area into the crowd striking three pedestrians.

The Jeep then struck a side by side, a track rake, and another vehicle before rolling over onto it’s side.

The 3 pedestrians and the driver of the Jeep were transported to
hospitals in critical condition.

Wagler Motorsports Park posted a statement on Facebook saying,

Wagler Motorsports Park had an off-track incident this afternoon. We are currently working through this with the families and staff and have concluded Friday night events. We will resume tomorrow (Saturday) as scheduled Please respect the privacy of families and staff at this time until further info is released.

Friday night events for the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza were cancelled. Saturday events will resume as planned.

The accident is still under investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
